Hi, i could need some proofreading and special advise for my emerging wiki page https://wiki.debian.org/JigdoOnLive
My plan is to offer it to Debian as link target in the official page https://www.debian.org/CD/jigdo-cd where the advise to users of foreign systems is to go to http://atterer.org/jigdo/ and download foreign system versions of jigdo clients. Obviously the Debian project cannot give any support for these programs. The procedure described in the new wiki page gives hope that the experts can diagnose problem reports and offer remedies. For the first steps of the procedure, the user is still on the foreign operating system. But beginning with https://wiki.debian.org/JigdoOnLive#Boot_Debian_Live the rest will happen on a current Debian system. A few topics on this way are out of my personal experience: - Networking: When Debian Live is booted, how do i get Internet access if not a friendly router offers DHCP via a supported network controller in the booted machine ? Where to look for advanced instructions ? (The text may assume that the user can download files by the foreign operating system and put it on a filesystem of that foreign OS.) https://wiki.debian.org/JigdoOnLive#Boot_Debian_Live - XFCE specific: When Debian Live is running, are there particular problems to expect with read-write mounting of the foreign system's filesystem where the ISO images shall be crerated by the Jigdo dowload ? https://wiki.debian.org/JigdoOnLive#Get_access_to_a_writable_disk_filesystem - Desktop: Would a different desktop version of Debian Live be better suited for the described tasks of getting access to Internet and local hard disks ? (Outmost similarity to MS-Windows or MacOS might lower the hurdle for the potential user who surely has not yet Debian-based system in reach.) Have a nice day :) Thomas
