I'm unfamiliar with the internals of Knoppix, but some things to maybe 
try.

 dpkg-reconfigure ssh
 dpkg-reconfigure samba-server
and/or
 apt-get remove ssh
 apt-get remove samba
 apt-get remove samba-server
I guess the last time I tried to run dpkg-reconfigure I misspelled the 
name; Anyway it worked great for ssh - but samba only allowed to change 
settings, not to shut it down (as far as I could see) ; Anyway, I 
removed it (I don't need the server package anyway) and everything is ok 
now :-)
