It is possible, but on a filesystem level.
You can copy the contents with rsync.
Or take a look at partclone, which is meant to create images of
partitions, if you don't want to deal with individual files.
clonezilla is a front-end to several tools (including partclone) to
backup and restore drives or partitions.
