I'm in the "clear up any mess" phase. :-) I couldn't get any menus or task / status bars in Gnome after the dist-upgrade, and I'm stuck with the Wheezy kernel. I finally discovered I could get classic Gnome, and that's what I'm using now. A bit of scattered Googling turned up that some 3.2.16 kernels fail for various reasons, and I need to figure out how to see what's causing it grief (udev? Something else?). I'm hopeful that getting the kernel fixed might be enough to make Gnome happy, too. Tips on where to look are welcome. Bill
