Thanks, I'll look at that. It may be the explanation. I haven't set the option, because the man page says that if you do this then by default all patches are applied and, being the first time I had patched a kernel, I wanted to be sure which ones were (I like to try to minimise problems, there are enough others unconnected with patching). I turned to http://newbiedoc.sourceforge.net/system/kernel-pkg.html for guidance - and this provided confusing advice (see previous thread: kernel patch question). So, for clarification, should I be running:- make-kpkg --added_patches=<a,b,etc> clean in order to remove the applied patches?
