I upgraded my testing system this morning and also lost the right button function on the desktop. However, I also lost the right click function on the kde menu button. I had to create a desktop icon to kmenuedit to edit the KDE menu. Left clicking the activities button in the upper left corner of the screen (default position ?) still brings up options for widgets and desktop settings so those functions are still available.
