If you want to run Debian Live from an USB stick, look at
  https://www.debian.org/CD/faq/#write-usb
Assuming you currently do not run a system which offers commands like "dd",
you will probably have to follow the hints about "win32diskimager".

Essential is that the ISO has to occupy the stick starting from the
stick's first byte. I.e. you need to write to the raw device itself,
not to a filesystem on that device or to a raw partition of the device.

ISO filesystem images to be put onto the USB stick can be found on
  http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live
See also
  https://www.debian.org/CD/live/
Mainly you have to decide between 64 bit CPU ("amd64") and 32 bit ("i386")
  http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/amd64/iso-hybrid/
  http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/i386/iso-hybrid/
and between the various graphical desktops.
Use the internet to get some impression of "cinnamon", "gnome", "kde",
"lxde", "mate", "xfce", and then choose the ".iso" File which offers the
desktop you want to try out.

Files which end by ".contents", ".log", ".packages", ".zsync" are not
of interest for your goal. Just download one of the ".iso" files and put
it onto the USB stick.

Have a nice day :)

Thomas
