depends upon what you are running and how you do it. are you upgrading from stable or installing testing? i have two partitions, one is older than the other, once it seems like things are fixed enough i update the older one. so that ways i always have a bootable system. i also pay attention to what the upgrades are and if they look fishy i wait until it gets cleared up or even holding a package so it doesn't get upgraded automatically. songbird
