Hello All,

I am writing here, because I am unsure if this is a bug or what.

I upgraded wheezy to jessie and expirieced a hangup during update-grub.
It was caused by os-prober trying to mount an extended partition because blkid did not recognize the partition as such.
This mount could of course not go well and I was not able to kill it...

Now, trying to figure out what the problem is, I checked the partition the mount was stuck in.
It is an extended partition, containing a lvm-system.

runng blkid on its own:

sudo blkid /dev/sda2
/dev/sda2: PTTYPE="dos" PARTUUID="44fb778d-02"

echo $?
0

so why is there a PTTYPE="dos" on the extended partition.
The partition was created in 2007 by the debian etch installer, I upgraded the system henceforth GParted detects the partition correclty as extended partition and before that I did not expierence any issues with this partition, nor did I make any changes to it (as far as I know)

On my other system blkid gives correctly an error 2 when accessing an extended partition.

Help and advise is greatly appreciated,

EPSG
