Yes. I suffer on an elevated luxury level. My Reiser FS showed substantial slowdown with mass file reading after a few years. Inode lookup and data file opening both dropped below half of the performance of a young filesystem. Possibly the price for storage size efficiency. But as said ... 2 seconds for "total 0" ...
