Dear all debian users,
I recently installed stretch on my HP Elitebook 840 p2 model, with gnome3.
Kernal version is 4.1.0-2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.1.6-1 (2015-08-23) x86_64
GNU/Linux
If I turn-on the system sounds, whether the volume is high or low, there's
consistent hiss sounds on my headphone.
Here is the list of trials:
1) I tried with other headphone to check if this is a problem of wrong
impedance, but it was same.
2) Turning-off all microphone inputs (I thought that this might come from
microphone feedback) in the system but it didn't help.
3) 'mic boost' option wasn't turned on in 'alsamixer'.
4) In /etc/pulse/daemon.conf file, sampling rates were changed from default
to 44100 and 48000 by uncommenting 'default-sample-rate' and
'alternate-sample-rate' options, but it didn't help too.
When the sound is on, even if the level of the sound is at 1, background
white noise comes back.
I think this background sound is even record-able. When I use recorder
without making any sounds but turning on headset's mic and system volume of
mic, the recorded file has quite large amount of background sounds but not
sure if this is related to output background nose level.
I wonder where this sound come from... I would like to ask your help, what
should I check and if there's any known issue on the Stretch or HP laptops.
It would be very grateful if you have any other suggestions.
