Interesting - and very appealing benchmark results! I'd noticed a
mention of glamor in the Radeon driver man page, but assumed that, since
it was the default only on Tahiti and later, it probably didn't offer
advantages for older chipsets (or might be unstable).
I've tried it and, unfortunately, with 'Option "AccelMethod" "glamor"',
Xorg won't start. It reports "(EE) GLSL link failure" and "Failed to
link: error: shader uses too many input components (44 > 40)".
It looks like this might have been patched already in upstream:
