I wouldn't expect to see a package any time before September (This is when the website goes "General Availability": https://letsencrypt.org/2015/06/16/lets-encrypt-launch-schedule.html). If you want notification of when it does happen, though, subscribe to bug #774387 (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=774387), which is the ITP (Intent To Package) for it. That bug should be closed by the creation of the package. > Will it be backported to Debian stable? Jessie? No. The whole point of stable is that the set of packages therein is stable (hence the name). Also, I wouldn't expect it to appear in backports and there's plenty of other ways to HTTPS-enable a website as is. Stretch? Entirely possible. > > I did note discussion of that here: > https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=774387 > > It is available at github: > https://github.com/letsencrypt/letsencrypt > > There is a mailing list archive for letsencrypt development > https://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/letsencrypt-devel/ > ... but it seems to be inactive. > > I would be delighted to go 'https' on the modest website I have helped > to build.
