Hi I am looking for plain Debian hosting, i.e. running unmodified Debian software. What can you recommend and why? A cheap VPS will be sufficient for me at this point.
I am aware of this page: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianHosting , however it is not quite accurate! For example OVH does its own modifications to the kernel, and the company declined to explain what those changes are. When upgrading from Wheezy to Jessie I encountered 3 problems (I had to manually edit the script files, upgrade the kernel as a separate step etc.) and I think at least 2 of them were caused by those OVH modifications (to the kernel and to the rest of the system). To me, this is shit. -- http://people.eisenbits.com/~stf/ http://www.eisenbits.com/ OpenPGP: 9EC2 5620 2355 B1DC 4A8F 8C79 0EC7 C214 E5AE 3B4E -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
