A "bounce", in terms of email, is when an email server has accepted mail for delivery and then, later, found that the message is undeliverable. That is, if the message can be rejected during the SMTP conversation, then a bounce is not created, but if the server accepts the mail and then, say, passes it on to a SPAM appliance which rejects the message, then the server that accepted the message must send a message back to the sender saying "I know I said I'd accept this, but I changed my mind". In your case, the reason for the bounce is listed on the web page linked: 5.7.0 (COL004-MC1F52) Unfortunately, messages from (82.195.75.100) on behalf of (yahoo.com) could not be delivered due to domain owner policy restrictions. 570 is the SMTP rejection code. COL004-MC1F52 would appear to be an error message identifier. You probably need to talk to hotmail.com (or consult their help pages) to determine what the "policy restrictions" are. On the plus side, though, out of 16 mails sent to you by the debian mailinglist server, only one has bounced. So either the problem has just started, or you've had a glitch. You should get more messages if the bounces continue, otherwise, assume the problem has fixed itself. > > -------- Forwarded Message -------- > > Subject: lists.debian.org has received bounces from you > Date: Thu, 19 Mar 2015 08:45:12 +0000 > From: Debian Listmaster Team [1]<listmas...@lists.debian.org> > Reply-To: [2]listmas...@lists.debian.org > To: [3]mudonglianga...@hotmail.com > > Dear subscriber, > > We've encountered some problems while sending listmail to your > emailaddress [4]mudonglianga...@hotmail.com. > > In the last seven days we've seen bounces for the following list: > * debian-user > 1 bounce out of 16 mails in one day (6%, kick-score is 80%) > ([5]http://lists.debian.org/bounces/Bcjqp9tet2DLfkhd5+SwZA) > > (The link above points to a copy of the latest bounce > and will be valid for seven days.) > > If the bounce-rate passes the kick-score, our bounce-detection will forcibly > remove your subscription. > > Bounces happen from time to time when spam slips through our filters but are > rejected by your mail provider.
