I can't spot anything wrong in here. A "bigger hammer" approach would be 
to do this

    apt-get install -t wheezy-backports vlc vlc-nox libvlccore7

If this works it might be worth reporting it to the debian-backports 
mailinglist, CC the maintainer of the backport.
