Why would you need always-running wpa_supplicant? The whole point of /etc/wpa_supplicant/functions.sh is to write something like in interfaces(5): iface wlan0 inet manual wpa-roam /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf and to start and stop wpa_supplicant with ifup and ifdown. > I spoze > one could also make a point for managing it with systemd, but I can't > afford the price of that ticket. The beauty of so called 'Roaming Mode' (see README.Debian) is complete independence of implementation of init. As long as init allows ifup and ifdown, of course.
