How is it managed?  Do you just look up and
down the list of Konsoles until you spot the hostname
you want to switch to?

The Preferences dialog for xfce4-panel's "Window Buttons" component (which implements the "task bar") has an option for controlling the sorting order, which offers the following options:

        Timestamp
        Group title and timestamp
        Window title
        Group title and window title
        None, allow drag-and-drop

(This is on a Debian jessie system; I don't have a wheezy installation handy.)

I believe either the third or fourth option would be the one you want.
