I can't speak for Mint (this is a Debian user group, rather than a Mint
user group), but GDM3 (the GNOME Display Manager) no longer supports
XDMCP as far as I can tell. In order to use XDMCP, you either need to
downgrade to GDM2, or switch to an alternative display manager such as
LightDM.
