OR, one of those SMTP on-ramp things like nullmailer. If you feel strongly that you don't want a full fledged MTA on your machine, you can use an on-ramp to replace /usr/sbin/sendmail and the send executable. If you're using an on-ramp, I recommend nullmailer because it employs a queue, whereas some of its competitors just block until messages are sent.
