Do you have any other apt config settings such as for a proxy server that would get in the middle? Look in /etc/apt/apt.conf and /etc/apt/apt.conf/d/* for any files that set proxy servers. Check your environment for any proxy settings "env | grep -i proxy". Just a guess... Bob
