It could work by disabling the build of debug symbols. At least this was hinted at in some bugs in the upstreams Chromium bug tracker. Or maybe it is possible to build the 32bit package on a 64bit buildd with a 64bit linker but still producing a 32bit binary. But the maintainer team for chromium has to decide, what to do.
