I disagree, you can quite happily remove/comment out the deb-src entries and I reckon 99.9% of the users wouldn't even notice. It saves bandwidth, mirror load, and downloading unnecessary stuff to your computer. I don't have any deb-src entries and I have compiled stuff without any problem, also if you do do something that requires a deb-src entry, you will get an appropriate message saying so.
