Your arguments may be true for Debian, because of their program that allows use of 32-bit software on a 64-bit system. Other distros do not have that ability, and there are some good reasons not to use a 64-bit system on something like PCLOS if that's the only Linux distro you have. Some software is just not available for 64-bit systems, because
of the libraries.
