Tried that also and that definitely doesn't work. Worked my way through
the "F" keys - no joy.

Boots straight into windows 8 or 8.1.

Have pulled the battery to make certain that everything is really dead
when I shut down.

No joy.

Really fast boot.

I have trolled the web and can see that plenty of people have the same
problem with this model lappy.

I have to decide do I want to chafe as being a windows user?

Is not being able to get into the BIOS enough of a reason to return the
machine to the store and if not then the above?

Not good.
