I found it easy, that was ~8 years ago, probably easier now.

That approach for creating a meta-package has been suggested
before

But http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/apt-howto/ch-helpers.en.html
seems to suggest to me that would not be the preferred tool. But
then again my Google searches haven't led me to anything else.
There *IS* a reason I do all my experiments on a physically
isolated machine. <GRIN>
followed by:
# Quick and dirty local packages repo: dpkg-scanpackages . /dev/null |
gzip - > Packages.gz
I "knew" dpkg-scanpackages. But I could not recall its name. Thanks.
