Yes, absolutely[0]. It works extremely well, but can consume a reasonable amount of disk space. You can even X on your main system, and have apps running in the chroot appear on your main display, seamlessly. Or vice versa. Could be handy for people who want X4.3 from experimental but don't want to install it on their nice Sid (or even Woody) systems. It's a fairly common security concept to run daemons in a chroot, so they only have access to the exact files they need. Postfix does this by default in Debian, and madduck had a package to convert bind9 to do something similar.
