hi, on jessie/testing with a 3.10-2-amd64 kernel, copy operations (using GNOME/KDE/cp) to a USB2 stick are reported as no (0 bytes/time) progress, then much progress, then 0 progress and so on.
While it reports 0 progress, the LED on the stick flashes so it does make progress (and eventually the copy operation is complete). Here is the /var/log/messages output: ------------------------------------------- Sep 26 20:46:03 bitburger kernel: [ 5798.629740] usb 1-5: new high-speed USB device number 4 using xhci_hcd Sep 26 20:46:03 bitburger kernel: [ 5798.648742] usb 1-5: New USB device found, idVendor=05dc, idProduct=a761 Sep 26 20:46:03 bitburger kernel: [ 5798.648745] usb 1-5: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Sep 26 20:46:03 bitburger kernel: [ 5798.648747] usb 1-5: Product: JD FireFly Sep 26 20:46:03 bitburger kernel: [ 5798.648748] usb 1-5: Manufacturer: Lexar Sep 26 20:46:03 bitburger kernel: [ 5798.648749] usb 1-5: SerialNumber: FGJFVH8BTK1NR0D2C5LU Sep 26 20:46:03 bitburger kernel: [ 5798.648881] usb 1-5: ep 0x81 - rounding interval to 128 microframes, ep desc says 255 microframes Sep 26 20:46:03 bitburger kernel: [ 5798.648883] usb 1-5: ep 0x2 - rounding interval to 128 microframes, ep desc says 255 microframes Sep 26 20:46:03 bitburger kernel: [ 5798.649203] usb-storage 1-5:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected Sep 26 20:46:03 bitburger kernel: [ 5798.649341] scsi7 : usb-storage 1-5:1.0 Sep 26 20:46:03 bitburger mtp-probe: checking bus 1, device 4: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-5" Sep 26 20:46:03 bitburger mtp-probe: bus: 1, device: 4 was not an MTP device Sep 26 20:46:04 bitburger kernel: [ 5800.062903] scsi 7:0:0:0: Direct-Access Lexar JD FireFly 1100 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 CCS Sep 26 20:46:04 bitburger kernel: [ 5800.063092] sd 7:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg3 type 0 Sep 26 20:46:04 bitburger kernel: [ 5800.064550] sd 7:0:0:0: [sdc] 7831552 512-byte logical blocks: (4.00 GB/3.73 GiB) Sep 26 20:46:04 bitburger kernel: [ 5800.065325] sd 7:0:0:0: [sdc] Write Protect is off Sep 26 20:46:04 bitburger kernel: [ 5800.069082] sdc: sdc1 Sep 26 20:46:04 bitburger kernel: [ 5800.069835] sd 7:0:0:0: [sdc] Attached SCSI removable disk Sep 26 20:46:04 bitburger org.kde.powerdevil.backlighthelper: QDBusConnection: system D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication.
