Ditto here. Never touched the 'interfaces' file and it's commented out. I'm using network manager (or whatever that gnome thingy is called). It all "just worked." But I only have a wired, eth0 connection, and no wireless. You have wired and wireless up and going at the same time? How does that work? Or doesn't it? Or the wired didn't work, so you connected yourself up wirelessly? Wouldn't it be interesting to see your /etc/network/interfaces file?
