Using heimdall-flash ensures that you have a recovery path in the event that something goes wrong while flashing. Also, while it might be *possible* to update all the partitions on the device just from a root shell, chances are the available images and instructions assume you'll be flashing them via the firmware... so translating these instructions so the changes can be done from the shell will surely be difficult. > I have logs for heimdall and adb.
