If you are interactively running 'apt-get upgrade' then look over the list of packages that will be upgraded. If any of those packages have a daemon then you should assume that the associated daemon will be restarted. If you have a daemon that you never want restarted then it also means that you never want the package containing it upgraded. If so then "hold" that package. Held packages will not be offered for upgrade. apt-mark hold foopackage What is your specific concern? Bob
