Hi Guys,

I have the above WLAN USB adapter.

I have followed the setup detail here:

http://wiki.debian.org/rtl819x#Debian_7.0_.22Wheezy.22

And the config detail here:

http://wiki.debian.org/WiFi/HowToUse#Command_Line

But it will not work!

All I get is:

Listening on LPF/wlan0/00:0b:81:89:61:f9
Sending on LPF/wlan0/00:0b:81:89:61:f9
Sending on Socket/fallback
DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 3
DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 4
DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 10
DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 17
DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 8
DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 11
DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 8
No DHCPOFFERS received.
No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.

For some reason, whatever it may be it will not associate with the AP.

I had the same issue with Wheezy & an identical adapter on the Raspberry Pi, and had to overcome that by running an automated setup script that some guy on the Pi forum had written - but it only works for the Pi!

Are the drivers wrong?

lsusb & lsmod show the device & drivers loaded. dmesg shows it loading the firmware etc.

ifconfig shows it sending & receiving packets.

I'm at a total loss! I've been on this for 2 days now, and I cannot see what is wrong!

Can anybody throw some light on it before I can it and give up? I'm not going to let it beat me!

Thanks,

James
