Probably not relevant, but on my television you have to select the source for
some sources: e.g. (for example, NOT that is) HDMI and VGA. (You can select
it for other sources if you want control.) There is a <source> button on the
remote control.

If it worked with the DVR, it should work with the computer on the same
setting.
However: if you had an open cable from the computer and plugged it into the
TV and had a black screen, you may need to start the computer application
over again. My video card, with an NVidia chip, will sense an open
connection
and not put anything out on it. You might even have to reboot.
