- Add root=/bin/bash to kernel parameters in Grub (see legend at the bottom of screen on how to do that] - Then if needed do: mount -o remount,rw / - Then: passwd - Change root password - Then: mount -o remount,ro / - Then reboot (likely a hard reboot is required since init system is not up) Your favorite search engine will likely output at least a dozen of howtos on this process.
