Ok, I understand now. In my opinion such safety nets are dangerous, because they tend to encourage carelessness (not implying that you are careless though). This is also the reason I stopped using rm aliased to 'rm -i'. How about using the /dev/disk/by-* links when doing such dangerous operations?
