I've been trying 2.6.0-test1 with the P4P800. I chose that
kernel-version because, as far as I know, it is the last of the the
2.6.0-test(n) series for which there are ac patches available, and it
is only, again as far as I know, in the ac-kernels that the SCSI_ATA
feature is available which is supposed to let linux take advantage of
the Serial ATA interface on the board.
The kernel compiles fine, but the machine won't boot from it. The boot
process dies at this point:

I've fiddled with various config options, turning PnP on and off in
the BIOS, turning APM off in the BIOS. Nothing has so far got me past
this problem.
I have the machine running tolerably well with kernel 2.4.22, but not
at the performance levels that I know it's capable of.
