So far, I have yet to get the magic firmware to make this device
turn from the warm brick it became after the squeeze upgrade to
a functioning device that presently controlls (used to control)
several radio scanners and an X10 controller. Good thing I
waited until warm weather as we use this in Winter to set the
thermostat.

        Here's what I did:

aptitude -q9 install alsa-firmware-loaders firmware-linux firmware-linux-nonfree

The firmware-linux-nonfree looked like the best possibility and
the other packages were downloaded because one sound card seems
to have also gone away and the middle package was downloaded for
good measure in hopes it might do some good. It didn't seem to
do anything differently.

Here is a sample of syslog. The game is over as soon as
it can't load the down or the boot image. The ports show up in
/dev as ttyUSB0-7 but they are dead.

Where else might I find the driver and where should it be
installed to bring the converter back to life?
Thanks.
