Just loaded squeeze onto a Lenovo T420i and the max resolution I get is 1024x768. According to System -> Preferences -> Monitors the only resolutions available are 1024x768, 960x600, and 800x600. xrandr shows the same thing. Using the on board intel Sandy Bridge graphics.
Tried a live Ubuntu CD and it showed 1600x900. I looked at everything in /etc/Xorg but didn't see anything pertaining to the problem. Searches turned up nothing useful. The Xorg.0.log talked a *lot* about the nouveau driver (which it mis-spells), but there is also this reference which snows me, as I'm not running a discrete card: (--) PCI:*(0:1:0:0) 10de:0422:1462:0740 nVidia Corporation G86 [GeForce 8400 GS] rev 161, Mem @ 0xfd000000/16777216, 0xd0000000/268435456, 0xfa000000/33554432, I/O @ 0x0000e800/128, BIOS @ 0x????????/131072 Also this section which also confuses me (easily done): (==) Using system config directory "/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d" (==) No Layout section. Using the first Screen section. (==) No screen section available. Using defaults. (**) |-->Screen "Default Screen Section" (0) (**) | |-->Monitor "<default moni tor>" (==) No monitor specified for screen "Default Screen Section". Using a default monitor configuration. Searches were a loser. The contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log are at http://pastebin.ca/2123022 if anyone is interested. I would love to know how to attack this. -- Bob Holtzman If you think you're getting free lunch, check the price of the beer. Key ID: 8D549279
