$ apt-cache search search_term | grep -i kde | more

Will literally give you a list of matching KDE applications. You'll need
to become root to install of course.

People who use aptitude will tell you it's better.

Synaptic - simple, and, simple.
PackageSearch - beautiful for searching (with debtags installed),
doesn't do installations (use apt).

Others:-
Adept - great (Sid only as yet)
Muon - excellent (not in Debian repositories)
KPackageKit - um, pass.
Aptitude GUI - being worked on (http://piotr.galiszewski.pl/)
