It (Netlink BCM57785) "should" be supported as is [*1]:- /lib/modules/2.6.32-5-686/kernel/drivers/net/tg3.ko (which I believe is the driver Andrew is referring to) However ASUS does have some strange ACPI implementations, and there's a possibility they've got a modified chipset.... You can try forcibly loading the module:- # modprobe -v tg3 you may need to explicitly state the path (and extension) Check syslog and dmesg for errors (espec dmesg ACPI warnings) Alternatively you could build the Broadcom driver and try that:- http://www.broadcom.com/support/license.php?file=570x/linux-3.116j.zip The lspci info might be instructive... Cheers [*1] I couldn't quickly find a reference to anyone who does have that NIC, in that Acer, working in Debian -- "I just have one of those faces. People come up to me and say, "What's wrong?" Nothing. "Well, it takes more energy to frown than it does to smile." Yeah, you know it takes more energy to point that out than it does to leave me alone" — Bill Hicks -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
