You can also ssh to it from another machine to debug it further.

So you have a video issue? Are you are running X? You may want to try to 
disbale KMS but as you are using an intel VGA I'm not sure if that will 
work nor what fallback mode would load :-?

You can also review your "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" go get additional 
information.
