I have a Wheezy host with a USB CUPS printer (Xerox Phaser 6280DN). I just did a weekly apt-get upgrade, and now the printer can't be found. The boottime errors are as follows:
[ 17.279912] usb 1-1.3: device descriptor read/64, error -110 [ 32.407928] usb 1-1.3: device descriptor read/64, error -110 [ 47.607644] usb 1-1.3: device descriptor read/64, error -110 [ 62.735485] usb 1-1.3: device descriptor read/64, error -110 [ 67.914971] usb 1-1.3: device descriptor read/8, error -110 [ 73.018715] usb 1-1.3: device descriptor read/8, error -110 [ 78.198360] usb 1-1.3: device descriptor read/8, error -110 [ 83.302112] usb 1-1.3: device descriptor read/8, error -110 [ 83.405772] hub 1-1:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port3 Another oddity is that the Intel screen now shows for ~22 sec before grub lists the kernels. After booting, my USB flash drive on /dev/sdc1 still works. The upgrade included 111 packages, which I list below in case it's useful. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks. ------------------------ The following packages have been kept back: ffmpeg gnome-system-monitor libavfilter1 libpam-modules libphonon4 libpostproc51 libsane libsane-extras libswscale0 The following packages will be upgraded: acl apt-xapian-index at cpp-4.6 debconf debconf-i18n debhelper dictionaries-common ftp g++-4.6 gcc-4.6 gcc-4.6-base gir1.2-atk-1.0 gir1.2-freedesktop gir1.2-gdkpixbuf-2.0 gir1.2-glib-2.0 gir1.2-gstreamer-0.10 gir1.2-pango-1.0 gnome-doc-utils gstreamer0.10-alsa gstreamer0.10-gconf gstreamer0.10-plugins-base gstreamer0.10-plugins-good gstreamer0.10-tools gstreamer0.10-x hpijs hplip hplip-cups hplip-data hunspell-kk iceweasel inputattach iptables libacl1 libass4 libatk1.0-0 libatk1.0-data libattr1 libavcodec52 libavdevice52 libavformat52 libavutil50 libbrlapi0.5 libbs2b0 libcap-ng0 libdjvulibre-text libdjvulibre21 libdrm-intel1 libdrm-nouveau1a libdrm-radeon1 libdrm2 libdvdcss2 libelfg0 libfaac0 libfreetype6 libgcc1 libgcrypt11 libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 libgeoip1 libgfortran3 libgirepository-1.0-1 libgl1-mesa-dri libgl1-mesa-glx libglu1-mesa libgnutls26 libgomp1 libgssglue1 libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0 libgstreamer0.10-0 libhpmud0 libkeyutils1 liblucene2-java libmailtools-perl libmimic0 libmozjs2d libmp3lame0 libmysqlclient16 libnewt0.52 libpam-runtime libpam0g libpango1.0-0 libpng12-0 libpulse-mainloop-glib0 libpulse0 libquadmath0 libsane-hpaio libselinux1 libsqlite3-0 libstdc++6 libstdc++6-4.6-dev libtirpc1 libx264-115 libxvidcore4 mysql-common netbase openbsd-inetd python-brlapi python-gconf python-gnome2 python-support rsyslog sane-utils synaptic tcl8.5 tex-common whiptail x11-xkb-utils xserver-common xserver-xephyr xserver-xorg-core xulrunner-1.9.1 111 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 9 not upgraded.
