Alan Stern has requested you run a kernel compiled with CONFIG_USB_DEBUG enabled. To accomplish this, you must compile a kernel and boot into it. The Debian way of doing this is to install kernel-package and use the make-kpkg tool. You can copy your existing config from /boot to /usr/src/linux/.config and then run make menuconfig in that directory and add CONFIG_USB_DEBUG. Then build the package with make-kpkg, install the .deb with dpkg, and set grub, lilo or kexec to boot into it. -- Liam
