Ran deborphan. Made sure that every thing related gtk too is purged. Removed all references in sources.list to experimental / unstable. Installed GNOME again. Made sure not run full upgrades ever since. So, now, I am left gnome terminal 3.0.1. And almost everything else gnome / GTK is 2.XX.XX. I loved Gnome shell during the days it was on my system - nice eye candy. But I hate (a) lack of themability, (b) absence of a shut down button, and (3) that sensitive spot on top left hand corner. ( have a small vision problem, and always take the mouse to that spot and bring it back to where I want it). It also depends on nvidia's drivers which are in non-free, and I need to spend tiem building the nvidia modules. I really do not need much eye candy; very happy with what the nouveau drivers provide me. YMMV. -- Mahesh T. Pai || With freedom comes responsibility.
