Hum... "simple way" I'd say not, because most of the web sites use a javascript routine to check the java version installed and they can search for any general string like "jre" or "java" or they can be more specific and look for "Sun Java-whatever-version" and act accordingly. To be an "online citizen with full rights" you need the Sun's java plugin most of the times so if you usually browse sites that requires java VM just install the Sun's JRE and you're done.
