You can start with the generic ones (auto, ref) and then go with the rest. I see neither "vaio" nor "sony" as possible values for that codec :-? You can also take a look into "/usr/share/doc/alsa-base/driver/HDA- Audio.txt.gz", under section "Speaker and Headphone Output" for any clue. Additional questions: 1/ What is your DE (Gnome, KDE...)? 2/ What happens when you plug the headphone? Are you still getting audio through the speaker or you simply get no audio at all? 3/ Have you properly setup all volume controls?
