1. Open the file /boot/grub/grub.cfg. The command

        less /boot/grub/grub.cfg

   in a terminal would do it.

2. Find lines which begin with the word "menuentry" and look for one
   which is do with Windows. e.g. "Windows 7 (loader) (on /dev/sda1)"

3. Copy that. Just the bit between "menuentry" and the "{".

4. Open the file /etc/default/grub in an editor. The command

        nano /etc/default/grub

   would do it.

5. Replace the line

        GRUB_DEFAULT=0

   with

        GRUB_DEFAULT="what_you_copied_from_grub.cfg"

   e.g  GRUB_DEFAULT="Windows 7 (loader) (on /dev/sda1)"

6. Execute the command update-grub.
