Not if those users ran volatile. I think it took a week or two, but we eventually got an update. The backports service provides packages from testing or unstable that have been recompiled in a stable environment so they are linked with stable libraries and whot-not. The repository is configured so that you do not normally get updates from it though, which can be heck for security.
