Doesn't kernel output go through klogd? Can't you set something in /etc/init/klogd to change where the kernel output goes, or how much output the kernel logs. P.S. I'm not sure about this, but I had a problem with unwanted information flooding my screen and I had to fiddle with klogd and put KLOGD="-c 4" in /etc/init.d/klogd to get rid of some messages that came up after setting up ipmasq.
