DVD-RAM is in my "to-do" list. I'd like starting to experiment with such media as soon as I have the time, because I think is the perfect optical medium to store/archive computer data. But I'm afraid nowadays if you want to keep a "trouble-less and safe" optical backup system you'll have to stick to standard DVD-R/DVD+R (double layered if you need extra capacity), that is, avoid any form of rewritable optical media.
